How To Do a Spring Reset in your Daily Life
If you’ve been wondering how to do a spring reset, this is your opportunity to start fresh mentally, spiritually, and physically. Life can quickly become overwhelming, leaving us feeling cluttered, distracted, and disconnected. But a true reset isn’t just about cleaning your space. It’s about realigning your life with peace, clarity, and purpose. When we invite God into our reset, we create space for renewal from the inside out.
Instead of trying to fix everything on our own, a spring reset is an opportunity to slow down, refocus, and reconnect with God. It’s about letting go of what no longer serves you and making room for what truly matters; mentally, spiritually, and physically.
Declutter Your Mind – Let Go Of Mental Overload
With everything competing for our attention each day, its easy for our minds to become overwhelmed and cluttered. Between daily responsibilities, constant notifications, and everything we take in from social media and the news, our minds are carrying more than they were ever meant to hold. If we’re not careful, we can become mentally drained, anxious and distracted simply by what we allow in.
That’s why it’s so important to guard our hearts and minds by being intentional by what we listen to, what we watch, and what we allow to take up space in our thoughts. Not everything deserves access to your mind.
Decluttering your mind begins with letting go of mental overload-releasing negative thinking, constant noise, and anything that is not feeding you spiritually or mentally. The Bible reminds us in Philippians 4:8 to think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. When we shift our focus away from chaos and on to what is uplifting and aligned with God, we begin to experience peace.
Instead of filling your mind with everything happening around you, choose to fill it with God’s Word. Feed your mind with truth, with scripture, with things that build you not break you. That is how you truly begin to reset mentally.
Before you can fully reset your life, you may need to learn how to truly rest. I shared more about this in my post on a Biblical Perspective of Why Rest Isn’t Selfish
Declutter Spiritually – Reconnect with God
Spiritual decluttering begins with letting go of anything that is no longer bearing fruit in your life. If something is not helping you grow, not drawing you closer to God, and not aligning with the life he is calling you to live, it may be time to release. This can look like unhealthy habits, distractions, or routines that once served you but no longer do. In John 15:2, we’re reminded that God prunes what is unfruitful so that we can grow. In the same way, we have to be willing to let go of what is no longer serving us spiritually so we can make room for what truly matters.
Reconnecting with God requires intentional space. Just like we make time for everything else in our day, we have to make time for him. That may mean setting aside dedicated time for prayer, reading your Bible, or simply being still in his presence. It’s not about perfection, it’s about consistency. When you begin to create space for God daily, you’ll find that your spirit becomes clearer, your direction becomes stronger, and your connection with him deepens. Spiritual decluttering isn’t just about what you remove. It’s about what you replace with it, And when you replace distractions with God, everything begins to realign.
Ask yourself: What do I need to let go of to grow closer to God?
Spiritual Declutter Checklist
- Let go of anything that is no longer bearing fruit in your life
- Identify habits or routines that are pulling you away from God
- Replace distractions with intentional time with God
- Set a daily time for prayer (even if it’s just 5-10 mins)
- Read a scripture each day to renew your mind
- Create a quiet space where you can spend time with God
- Be consistent even when you don’t feel like it
- Ask God to guide you in what needs to be released and renewed
Declutter Your Space- Create an Environment of Peace
Decluttering your space is more than just cleaning; it’s about intentionally creating an environment that brings you peace. What I’ve been learning in this season is that peace starts with being intentional about what surrounds you. For me, that looks like starting fresh in my bedroom. I recently invested in a new bed that I had been wanting for a while, and instead of rushing the process, I’m taking my time building my space around it. That one decision alone set the tone for everything else.
I’m learning that creating a peaceful environment doesn’t have to happen all at once. It can be done step by step. From choosing the textures and layers that I want on my bed, to eventually adding pieces like a new night stand, lighting and fresh painting, I’m being intentional about every detail. It’s not about perfection it’s about creating a space that feels calm, inviting, and aligned with the life you’re building. Your environment should support your peace, not disrupt it. As Corinthians 14:33 reminds us, God is not a God of disorder but of peace and when we begin to create order in our space, it often reflects in our minds and spirits as well.
Whatever peace looks like for you, give yourself permission to create it. Start with what you have, take it one step at a time, and build a space that allows you to rest, think clearly, and reconnect. When your environment reflects peace, it becomes easier to carry that peace into every area of your life.
Physical Declutter Checklist
- Start with one area and build from there
- Choose items that bring peace not clutter
- Create a space that feels calm and inviting
- Take your time-your space doesn’t have to be done all at once
- Let go of items that no longer serve your environment
- Add elements (light, texture, color) that bring you peace
- Be intentional about what you allow into your space
Ask yourself: Does my space bring me peace or add to my overwhelm?
Declutter Your Life – Protect your time and Energy
Decluttering your life means being intentional about where your time and energy go. Not every opportunity, invitation, or environment is meant for you and trying to be everywhere or do everything can quickly lead to burnout. In this season, it’s important to slow down and seek God about where he truly wants your attention. Your focus is valuable, and where you place it will determine how you feel, how you grow and how you move forward. You can’t pour into everything and you’re not meant to.
Protecting your time and energy also means being mindful of the environments and people you surround yourself with. Constant exposure to negativity, chaos, and draining situations can impact you more than you realize. That’s why it’s important to guard your energy and be intentional about what you allow in your space and your life. Proverbs 4;23 reminds us to guard our hearts for everything we do flows from it. When you begin to align your attention to what uplifts you and draws you closer to God, you naturally begin to feel more at peace.
Life Declutter Checklist
- Be intentional about where you spend your time
- Say no to things that drain you or pull you off track
- Seek God for direction before committing to new things
- Limit time in environments that bring negativity or stress
- Protect your energy by setting healthy boundaries
- Focus on what aligns with your purpose and growth
- Give yourself permission to rest and reset when needed
Ask yourself: Where is my time and energy going and is it aligned where God is leading me?
A new season is the perfect opportunity to reset, realign, and create space for what truly matters. Decluttering your mind, your space, your spirit, and your life isn’t about having everything together. It’s about making room for peace, clarity, and a deeper connection with God. Start where you are, take it one step at a time, and give yourself grace along the way.
If this encouraged you, take a moment today to reset one area of your life and feel free to share which area you’re starting with in the comments or with someone who may need this encouragement too.
