With Thanksgiving approaching it’s time to get started on the menu. We love to keep it traditional at our family holiday gatherings. When I say traditional I’m referring to what’s cooking and whose cooking it. My mom is always requested to make the potato salad. Nobody makes the potato salad but her and everyone will know if the ingredients are off. Ask my uncle Paul. She’s always asked by him to make enough when there always is.  My aunt Betty who is my mom’s sister is known for making the cornbread dressing and candied yams. She usually gets requests from many other families around the holidays to make their dressing. It has always been a staple in our family along with her lasagna.  Now that we’ve gotten a few of the main dishes out of the way let’s move on to the desserts.  Strawberry Congealed Salad is also a traditional dish. My aunt Betty makes the absolute best!  For our cakes we love strawberry cake. My grandmother use to make the best strawberry cake for many years and we still use her recipe. One thing about our Thanksgiving is making sure that our best main dishes are always on the table.
